Game of Thrones has literally taken the world by storm. The American fantasy drama television series is based on a series of fantasy novels by American author George RR Martin titled ‘A song of Ice and Fire’.

With nail biting Season 7 Finale , Game of Thrones returns with its Last season after 2years, we needed something to tide us over. Here, real-life Game of Thrones locations you can visit around the globe.  we’d venture to say that the Game of thrones cast must rack up some pretty hefty frequent flier miles if it weren’t for the fact that most characters get the axe (sometimes literally) before they make it to the next location. It’s no wonder it has sparked a tourism boom everywhere it is shot. Once a destination becomes a part of the Game of Thrones filming locations, you can bet tourists will flock to see it. .

Some locations from Game of Thrones :

King’s Landing: Dubrovnik, Croatia

From season two onward, most of “King’s Landing” was filmed in the ancient city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Feel free to explore “Westeros” on your own, or opt for a GOT-themed tour, which are available throughout the city. The surrounding waters were put to good use, providing the setting for the epic Battle of Blackwater, whilst Fort Lovrijenac became the new Red Keep.

Winterfell: Castle Ward in Strangford, Ireland

Winterfell is the ancestral castle and seat of power of House Stark and is considered to be the capital of the north. It is located in the center of the northernmost province of the Seven Kingdoms, on the kingsroad that runs from Storm’s Endto the Wall. With its abundance of ancient castles, there’s a reason Northern Ireland is one of the series’s go-to shooting locations. If you visit the Stangford Castle Ward Estate, you may recognize it as the real “Winterfell.”

Dragonstone: Itzurun Beach, Zumaia, Spain

Spain features heavily is the latest installment of Game of Thrones. Take the last scenes of season seven’s initial episode: Daenerys lands at Dragonstone—Dothraki warriors, Varys, and Tyrion in tow—after seasons spent across the Narrow Sea. While the nearby San Juan de Gaztelugatxe stands in for the castle’s winding entry stairs, it’s Itzurun Beach in the Basque Country that serves as the dragon queen’s entry point to Westeros.

Dorne: Royal Alcázar of Seville, Spain

The lavish royal Alcázar of Seville located in the centre of the city is Seville’s biggest tourist attraction and witnesses more than 8,000 visitors each day. The Alcázar serves as the setting for Dorne’s Water Palace of Sunspear, the verdant summer home of the royal Martell family.

King’s Road: Dark Hedges,Northern Ireland

The Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland have played a major role in the Game of Thrones story, serving as the setting for the Kingsroad. But the area that surrounds the Dark Hedges should be a must-see for any fan, since it has been used to film Winterfell, Castle Black and the Stark family war encampment. If you are on a road trip from Belfast to the Giant’s Causeway, choose this route.

Yunkai: Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco

A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, Ait Ben Haddou is located between Sahara and Marrakech.  Jon Snow’s and Ygritte’s Love Cave: Grjótagjá, Iceland

Another Iceland location that deserved its own mention is Jon and Ygritte’s cave. Yes, we mean that cave. And it didn’t even require CG. Located near Lake Mývatn in Northern Iceland .Grjótagjá is a small volcanic cave where water in the spring can top 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Dothraki Sea: Bardenas Reales, Valencia,Spain

No, this isn’t another planet. The 104,000-acre Bardenas Reales are the Spanish badlands located in Valencia, made up of clay, chalk and sandstone that’s been molded by centuries of water and wind.
